Dr. Ibrar Ahmed is a Principal Engineer at pgEdge, where he designs edge-ready, highly available PostgreSQL solutions and contributes upstream code to the PostgreSQL project. He holds a PhD in AI and databases, with published research papers in the field. With over three decades in software engineering and two decades focused specifically on PostgreSQL internals, Ibrar has worked at the center of the Postgres ecosystem. He started his career in embedded systems, joined EnterpriseDB in 2006 as Senior Software Architect, and delivered major performance and feature advances to PostgreSQL core. He then moved to Percona as Principal Engineer, deepening his work on high-availability and distributed database architectures. Ibrar is the author of four books on PostgreSQL. He has given more than 80 conference talks over the past 6 years at events such as PGConf.EU, PGConf.dev, Percona Live, FOSDEM, and regional PostgreSQL meetups worldwide. He has also contributed to PostgreSQL integration with Hive, HBase, Spark, MongoDB, and other data platforms. He is recognized as one of the top 100 most influential figures in the global database community.
