One Collector to Rule Them All: Unified Observability for PostgreSQL Platforms

Last year at PGConf.EU 2025 in Riga, a talk about unified PostgreSQL observability with OpenTelemetry sparked a key insight: in production environments, PostgreSQL never runs alone - it's always surrounded by an ecosystem of components like Patroni, pgBackRest, pgAudit, and etcd, each with its own logging format and configuration.
The talk explores how all these components can be funneled into a unified observability pipeline, covering relevant logging and metrics settings, OpenTelemetry Collector configuration excerpts, and possible target systems such as Prometheus or Jaeger. Open questions around performance and Collector overhead round off the topic.
