SQLsmith is a generator for random SQL queries; a QA tool for PostgreSQL developers and extension writers alike. In the past three years, it helped uncovering more than 100 bugs in PostgreSQL, MonetDB and SQLite and their extensions and libraries.
After a quick motivation for fuzz testing in general, the talk will take a closer look at using SQLsmith and the testing methodology involved. Next is a quantitative analysis of the bugs uncovered so far. Finally, SQLsmith's design is outlined and ideas on potential future work is presented.
