It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when I became part of the Postgres community. The process was gradual, and it took time for me to truly grasp what being part of an open-source community means — and even longer to understand how it functions, with its many roles, responsibilities, and diverse perspectives.

What I’ve learned is that the only real way to understand the Postgres community is to engage with it — by sharing your ideas, your perspective, and your energy.

Over the years, I’ve attended many community conferences and helped organise others. I served as Chair of the User Group Committee at PgUS, participated in the Diversity Task Force, and continue to be involved with the Funds Group. I’m also honoured to be recognised as a PostgreSQL Significant Contributor.

Beyond its technical capabilities, financial advantages, and freedom from vendor lock-in, PostgreSQL offers something more: a truly unique open-source movement. I’m proud and grateful to be a part of it.
