A little about our speaker
Dave Pitts Adyen (Spain)
With over 20 years of experience as a Database Engineer, I began my career specializing in Oracle and SQL Server before transitioning in 2015 to focus predominantly on PostgreSQL—a technology I have grown deeply passionate about.
From 2017 to 2021, I led a team through a monumental project migrating thousands of Oracle databases from a global private cloud to PostgreSQL on the public cloud, spanning multiple data centers across the US, EU, Singapore, Australia, and Korea. This large-scale migration showcased my expertise in managing complex, global database infrastructures.
In February 2021, I joined Adyen at their Amsterdam headquarters, where I worked on some of the world’s largest PostgreSQL installations. In September 2022, I accepted an opportunity with Gartner in Barcelona, leading multiple DBA teams distributed across the US, Europe, and India. Although I enjoyed the challenge and life in Barcelona, I returned to Adyen in Madrid in late 2023 for family and health reasons, where I am now help build up Adyen’s new Spanish tech hub.
As a dedicated advocate for PostgreSQL, I actively engage with the vibrant Postgres community, regularly attending events like pgconf.eu and FOSDEM. I’ve had the privilege of presenting to the PostgreSQL NL user group and am excited to be revitalizing the Spanish PostgreSQL User Group (PUG), running events in both Madrid & Barcelona and supporting event organizers in other Spanish cities like Valencia.
In addition to my professional work, I make music with my husband Thomas. Together, we even created songs for pgDay NL and pgconf.eu Athens—check us out as ThomasDave on Spotify.
