Crafty Slonik - Afternoon Session

Crafty Slonik is the event for people in the PostgreSQL community to showcase their hobbies outside of PostgreSQL. This event is about hacking, crafting and making all manner of things, except there will strictly be no hacking of PostgreSQL code!
Crafty Slonik is going to be hands on and interactive. It'll be a fun space for you to share your craft, to try something else, or try something totally new. Come and hand out all day with others from the community or drop in and out as you need. Most importantly relax and have a little fun being creative. We'll provide a range of materials and implements (with in the limits of the venue), so therre is nothing to keep you away.
We intend this event to have a range of activities:
- Cross stitch, knitting & Crochet
- Drawing, illustration, doodling
- Quilling & other paper craft
- LED badges & electronic arts
The Great Community Slonik
The aim is for everyone to show of their creative flare and contribute to a mosaic: The Great Community Slonik. Where we'll create a patchwork elephant to show a different side to our community, one of passion, skill and creativity.
People can produce one or more patches, using the various crafts we can do on-site. Which will be photographed and added to The Great Community Slonik. So you still get to keep what you made.
Anyone attending the Community Day can drop in and create a patch, o better a time to try something new out. We'll have some guides and templates to make it easy for begineers to pros.
Can't Make It On The Day
Don't worry if you can't make {{ confname }} or the community day event. The hope is for the art work to live (and grow) online. So you should be able to send us a patch remotely.
How It'll work
On the day, we'll have a room dedicated to Crafty Slonik all day. We'll have round tables geared up to the different crafts we can do. You can get to know other members of the community with similar crafts.
Come along and contribute to our community art work or feel free to come and work on your own thing. Crafty Slonik is an open and welcoming space of all.
Fundamentally this is a collaborative and interactive session. It'll be as good as we all make it.
