A little about our speaker
Joel Jacobson SQL StdDev AB

I co-founded a real-time bank payment company, Trustly, which I've heard is still today a very database centric system, heavily relying on PostgreSQL, with backend business logic written in SQL functions. After selling the company back in 2018, my plan was to dedicate my life to open source work, instead of starting a new company. I've pretty much followed that plan since then, hacking on PostgreSQL a lot more since I left Trustly. My most recent contribution was helping to rewrite the LISTEN/NOTIFY subsystem to scale better for multi-channel workloads. Currently I'm working intensively with the new Key Joins feature, both on the PostgreSQL patch, and also within the ISO/IEC JTC1 SC32 WG3 (SQL-standard) on the same feature. Unrelated to PostgreSQL, I'm also passionate about dimming LED-lighting with extreme precision, which is something we've been working on for four years now, developing a new revolutionary LED-driver.
