The PostgreSQL translation guide I wish somebody wrote

October 20–23
Level: Intermediate

I have spent a significant part of my career convincing people to love PostgreSQL the way I do. What I discovered along the way surprised me — the problem was never PostgreSQL. It was the translation layer between how PostgreSQL thinks and how enterprise teams think. The friction points are consistent. An enterprise DBA reads 'drop your replicas first' and closes the tab — not because it's wrong, but because the operational context was never written down. They search for Always Encrypted, find nothing, and conclude PostgreSQL is not enterprise-ready. They are not ready for the compression discussion. Sometimes the answer exists and nobody connected the dots. Sometimes it is a honest gap worth acknowledging. This talk is that translation guide. You will leave with a clear picture of where PostgreSQL loses enterprise teams, why it happens, and what the community can do about it. Twenty years of PostgreSQL, hundreds of engineers, and more escalations than I care to count — distilled into the guide I wish somebody had written.
