Evolving How We Tune Postgres

In this keynote, we'll take a look at 3 different paradigms of tuning Postgres: Tuning as a Human, Tuning with AI tools, and Tuning within Postgres itself. Having a Postgres expert tweak every single query and setting would be great, but most of us can't do it in practice. Delegating tuning to LLM-based AI tools is appealing, but it often leads to a lack of understanding and inconsistencies.
What if we instead find the right feedback loops where Postgres can tune itself in a deterministic way? We'll look at what's been discussed in-core, tried in extensions, and what separate tools like pganalyze bring to the table.
