The things you can do with partitions you never dreamed of
October 20–23
In the latest published version of the adyen postgres partition framework (https://github.com/Adyen/adyen-postgres-partitioning) you find a lot of improvements but I want to highlight a few novelties here.
First of all, you should not partition individual tables, but all tables around the same leading figure. Wouldn't it be convenient to automate this alignment process? So we did. And did you know you can win a little bit of performance on every partition, by optimizing the column order for every new partition? It might be a small win, but small wins accumulate to bigger storage and cpu gains over time.
And sometimes you partition a table, but it turns out on production you need to optimize more queries for good performance. No worry, we have you covered with the latest revert script.
