Postgres 19, 20, & Beyond: Live Demos of New Features & Tools

Get a guided tour of new PostgreSQL features, extensions, and developer tools built in collaboration by Microsoft engineers and contributors.
In this session, you’ll see live demonstrations and technical walk-throughs. We will explore recently committed features in PostgreSQL 19, including optimizations at all levels: the query planner, executor, and storage layer. We will also cover active proposals for the PostgreSQL 20 development cycle, including those that started in the PG19 beta, such as SQL/PGQ property graph.
Beyond core, we will demonstrate the open-source pg_durable extension for running workflows in the database—and DocumentDB, which adds open-source MongoDB compatibility to PostgreSQL. Finally, we will show how pglayers can package PostgreSQL extensions in Docker, and explore the developer experience offered by the VS Code extension for PostgreSQL.
