Furkan Sahin Ubicloud
Furkan is a software engineer at Ubicloud, an open source cloud that offers managed PostgreSQL on bare metal providers like Hetzner and Leaseweb, as well as on GCP and AWS. He built Ubicloud's PostgreSQL offering on GCP and AWS, bringing the same managed service to hyperscaler infrastructure next to bare metal.
Before Ubicloud, he was a software engineer at Microsoft in Amsterdam on Hyperscale (Citus), Azure's managed distributed PostgreSQL. There he built high availability for the service, worked on near zero downtime compute and storage scaling, and redesigned its API layer. He joined Citus Data fresh out of college, where he created the open source postgresql-topn extension (https://github.com/citusdata/postgresql-topn) for approximate top-n queries, and as an intern built a histogram based percentile approximation extension for PostgreSQL.
His current interests include running PostgreSQL for other people across bare metal and public clouds, and distributed systems.
