Debate - Autotuning
Friday, September 12 at 16:50–17:10
Autotuning claims to bring a lot of advantages to database performance and maintenance. It claims that it can save a DBA hours of manual work, and do it even better than the DBA, especially because human error factor cannot be underestimated…
But there’s one “but” - or maybe more than one - what do you say about over-tuning that slows everything down as a machine cannot take your context into account? Who can guarantee that those algorithms have been optimized for your particular case and won’t create extra overhead? How will you onboard new DBAs into your multiple automation and explain their possible side effects?
Join our debate on Postgres autotuning tackling all these pros and cons and a lot more! Once the arguments are presented on stage, we expect the discussion to continue in the hall so that we are all better informed on this increasingly relevant topic.
