As China R&D GPDB team head, Yandong Yao is in charge of developing the key features of Greenplum Database, including dispatcher, interconnect, resource management, distributed transactions, external tables, external protocols and management console. He is also responsible for GeoSpatial and Text analytics features for GPDB. Yandong joined GPDB team in 2010.

Yandong Yao obtained MS degrees in computer science from Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences at 2005, BS degrees from Shandong University at 2002.
