Generalized Inverted Index makes full text search possible. But it's also useful for many other things. This presentation gives an introduction to how GIN works, and what you can do with it as an application developer.
PostgreSQL 9.4 will bring many performance improvements to GIN. I will present beautiful graphs and impressive numbers, to demonstrate how much better it will be.
