How We Can Help

If you are organising a PostgreSQL event in Europe, and you would like the Diversity Committee to help in any way, please contact us by email at diversity(at)postgresql.eu.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of some of the ways we can help.

We welcome your ideas for any other initiatives that would be useful to you.

Sunflower-friendly Events

PostgreSQL Europe is an official member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, a globally recognised symbol that supports people living with non-visible disabilities. All PostgreSQL Europe events are invited and encouraged to become Sunflower-friendly. See the link above for more information, and contact the diversity committee to find out how help create events that are more understanding, more supportive, and more inclusive.

Grants for Diversity Initiatives

We can make grants available towards the cost of initiatives to make your events more diverse, welcoming and inclusive.
These could include (for example) live captioning, equiping a quiet room, training staff or volunteers.
Please email the commmittee to request a grant or for more information.

Advice and Support

We will always be happy to accompany and advise event organisers as they strive to make their events as welcoming and inclusive as possible.

Guidelines and Templates

We have worked with event organisers to help create or improve guidelines for things such as:

• Program selection processes
• Venue requirements
• Live captioning options
• Volunteer training

We plan to publish some of our general recommendations for other events to use.
